Collaborative Law
Collaborative law is similar to mediation and is an increasingly popular approach to divorce. During collaborative law negatiations both you and your spouse will hire lawyers, but they are lawyers who are committed to resolving your differences without resorting to litigation or court proceedings.
Another advantage of collaborative law is that many courts are allowing couples who desire complete privacy to waive the requirement of filing a financial disclosure affidavit.
And, while collaborative law may not be the least expensive way to go, it is significantly less expensive than traditional adversarial methods.
Debra G. Simms, P.A. has been assisting clients with collaborative law divorces for over 20 years.
